Jaime Jorge – He Gave God His Music

Posted on October 3, 2011 by

Today at First Baptist Church-Las Colinas we were deeply blessed by the music & testimony of Brother Jaime Jorge, a missionary and world-class musician, who uses his talents exclusively for God. Listening to Bro. Jorge play the violin was a truly worshipful experience, more so because unlike many talented musicians, Bro. Jorge plays in such a way as to make you focus on the meaning of the hymns he plays instead of the technical expertise of the musician.

While it’s hard for any recording to do justice to an act of worship, the following video recording is a recording from 2010 of Bro. Jorge playing “Holy Holy Holy”, the same song with which he opened our worship service this morning.

But Brother Jorge’s ministry extends beyond his music – and that, I think, is part of what makes his ministry so powerful. Bro. Jorge uses his violin to get the gospel into places all over the world that might otherwise be inaccessible. Whether it’s poverty-torn eastern bloc countries, or even the King of Norway. This next video clip (taken via cell-phone) shows how well Bro. Jorge blends his music with his speaking.

[Youtube had some problems converting the video, so the audio during Bro. Jorge’s song is a little messed up. Skip to 3:09 to hear Bro. Jorge speak.]

Though I didn’t come prepared to record video today, I was able to snag a quick webcam interview with Bro. Jorge. I think he says much better than I ever could just exactly who he is and what his ministry is about.

One of the most significant things I took away from my interview with Bro. Jorge was how he was willing to give up his music for God. And in return, God gave his music back, along with opportunities for ministry much broader than anything Jaime Jorge could have imagined.

If you’d like to learn more about Bro. Jorge, buy his CD’s, or support or follow his ministry in some other way, you can do so at http://www.jaimejorge.com/.
